Getting in the Holiday Spirit!

It’s that time of year!

Well, at least it is for us. We started early this year. . .November 15th to be precise!

This year just needed a little extra cheer, don’t you think?!

After years of trying, we finally convinced the Daddy to get a fake tree. I am thrilled because as much as I always loved real trees growing up, the real trees here don’t smell because they aren’t pines and they just make a mess.

So yeah! We finally got our tree.

If you are starting to decorate your tree we have lots of fun ideas for ornaments for you to do with your kiddos! There are so many fun and easy ideas of great things to create. I will link you to several articles on the blog for step by step directions on how to create your own sweet ornaments!

These salt dough ornaments are easy to make with the smallest members of your crew and are a sweet keepsake! My favorite is the cute little fingerprint family! You can capture your little one’s fingerprint on an ornament to keep for years to come!

Click on the link to find the recipe for the salt dough and the easy directions! Salt dough is fun for making a variety of shapes! Just get out your cookie cutters and have at it!

You can also create adorable wooden ornaments with your little ones! There are so many fun kits and ideas to choose from! We bought the wood circles from the craft store, the toy solider from Flying Tiger and the Santa was part of a sweet kit we got last year for Christmas.

Little Makers Ornament Kit from Joann Fabrics

All you need to create your own wooden ornaments are acrylic paints and the ornament. This is a perfect craft for older kids!

Another fun idea to create with your kids are these fun DIY snowglobe ornaments. There are premade kits that your kids just have to put together like this Reindeer from Flying Tiger, or you can buy the plastic ornament and fill it yourself with fake snow and cute decorations like this mini tree or snowman.

Homemade ornaments add the perfect tough to your Christmas tree. I love to write the date and name on the back of them to remember who made them and when. It is a sweet keepsake. And some of them are cute memories, while others turn out quite beautiful!

Have fun and get creative making your own ornaments this season!

Happy creating!
