“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.”
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Do you love or hate Valentine’s Day? My husband always goes on about how it is just another commercialized holiday in order to make more money. And it is. For sure.
But it is also an opportunity. I think that life is busy. And sometimes it just keeps flying by, and we are surviving our days, instead of living life to the fullest. And I think that birthdays, and holidays and anniversaries can be those moments that force us to pause and to reflect and to be thankful for the people in our lives and to show them a little extra love.
Because yes, all the flowers and cards and chocolates at the store are there so companies can make more money. But we don’t give our loved ones cards, take them out on dates, tell them we love them or buy them something special “just because” half as often as we should. In fact, I think that more often than not we take the people in our lives for granted.
And these days…like Valentine’s Day… we can stop and say “I LOVE YOU!” I love you, thank you, you are the best, you mean so much to me. Thank you for being you.
Or we can bake them a cake…
A cute little mini cake with a water color heart painting on it. That says, I love you this much.
And I do. I love you Gianluca. This much and so much more. Thank you for being my best friend and for walking through this adventure called life with me.
Happy Valentines Day to you all! Tell someone how much you love them today!
