Birthdays are a special occasion to love on your littles and to show love to their friends as well. It is about building relationship, having fun, celebrating life, and blessings others.
This Beauty and the Beast Birthday party was one of our favorites.
The party colors were gold and red. The girls received a (chocolate) rose with their invitation to the party and . The invite had the party details on it as well as the prologue to the Beauty and the Beast movie…
Once upon a time, in a faraway land,
Alan Menken
A young Prince lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired,
The Prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind.
But then, one winter’s night,
An old beggar woman came to the castle
And offered him a single rose In return for shelter from the bitter cold.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance,
The Prince sneered at the gift,
And turned the old woman away.
But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances,
For Beauty is found within.
And when he dismissed her again,
The old woman’s ugliness melted away
To reveal a beautiful Enchantress.
The Prince tried to apologize, but it was too late,
For she had seen that there was no love in his heart.
And as punishment,
She transformed him into a hideous beast,
And placed a powerful spell on the castle,
And all who lived there.
Ashamed of his monstrous form,
The beast concealed himself inside his castle,
With a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.
The Rose she had offered,
Was truly an enchanted rose,
Which would bloom until his twenty-first year.
If he could learn to love another,
And earn her love in return
By the time the last petal fell,
Then the spell would be broken.
If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast
For all time.
As the years passed,
He fell into despair, and lost all hope,
For who could ever learn to love… a Beast?
When the girls got to our house we had some photo booth fun before having singing happy birthday and eating their cupcakes.
We also played a game where each girl had to write down 3 things about themselves that make them unique. Three things that they thought their friends might not know about them.
The cupcakes were so fun to make!! I found these beautiful marshmallow roses which were perfect for the Beauty and the Beast theme.
I baked the cupcakes and placed them each in a little terracotta pot. Then I lightly frosted them with Nutella frosting and added Oreo dirt. Lastly I added the roses which already came on a green stick. They turned out super sweet.
After we had our cupcakes, each girl received a snack bag (with Belle and a rose on it) for the movie theater. And we hopped in the car and headed to the theater.
In the car we played a game. I read (my husband drove) the 3 things each girl had written on their piece of paper out loud for everyone and the girls had to guess as quickly as possible which one of their friends the unique things described.
It was fun and we laughed a lot. But the best part is that it just reminded the girls of how each one of them is unique.
We watched the movie, which we LOVED, and then headed back to our house. At the theater the girls enjoyed their snacks and sang along with the movie. It was really fun.
On our way home we talked about the prologue. And how the Prince had judged the enchantress solely based on her appearance. And how important it is not to judge people by their appearance, but to realize that each one of us is special and unique.
When we got home, I had made prints that said, “BeYOUtiful” in white frames for each of the girls. We talked about what the quote meant. And why it is important to be your own beautiful self… and how boring the world would be if we were all the same!!
Then they made their own frames. The girls glued their print onto colored paper before placing them in the white IKEA frames. The colored paper created a small border around the print. On the border the girls signed each other’s frames and wrote things they love about one another and the other’s unique and special qualities. It was really sweet.
Then each girl decorated their frame with with art supplies I provided (buttons, pom poms, sequens, stickers, etc). They turned out really cute and I loved how each frame, like each girl, was unique.
After we were done the girls jumped on the trampoline until their parents arrived.
It was a sweet way to celebrate our beautiful girl and her beautiful friends. I hope that she always knows that she is beautiful just the way she is.
That evening we celebrated with family and Zii with cake. I love how the topper turned out!
Our birthday girl is a true Beauty. We are so thankful for her!
